We were introduced to the Mekele Blind School by an Ethiopian friend while we were there in June, 2006, doing a cultural bridge-building project in a few public elementary schools. It was then and there that we saw for ourselves that the blind school in Mekele is struggling. There is no running water, not enough money for the most basic of needs. Read more about the school.
Ethiopia was never colonized, and has no past colonial power "helping" the country develop. There is little tourism, contact with concerned outsiders is limited. We decided to roll up our sleeves and pitch in to help these children. We have been invited to help and we are doing our best.
100% of your donation goes to the children. We assure you that your donation will go directly toward the improvement of these childrens' lives by helping us to continue the work we've begun there. There is much more to do, and with your help, we can continue to bring dignity to the lives of these amazing children.
